While driving to my sister’s place today to go swimming, Mary Judah asked from the backseat, “Are six-year-olds in first grade?”
Having just turned six earlier this month, I could see the urgency in her question. “Yes, they are,” I replied.
“Can I be in first grade?” she asked.
“Well, you’re still in kindergarten right now, and then when we start our next school year, you’ll be in first grade,” I told her.
There was a slight pause while she thought about this. “I want to be in first grade right now,” she said.
I thought “why not?” for a second and then said, “OK. You can be in first grade.”
Good Lord, I love homeschool.
