sorry laura but a bit of a rant in response because i've been thinking a lot about this.

buying citgo, owned by venezuala, seems like it would be better than buying oil from certain parts of the middle east, if you're trying to avoid supporting terrorism. i don't know of any terrorists from venezuala. hugo chavez may have been uneccesarily rude, but he hasn't called for bush to be overthrown or supported any efforts to do so, and has in fact offered cheaper gas to poor americans, which i think is pretty great.

i agree that ahmadinejad is problematic, since he is actually saying serious accusations, like that israel shouldn't be a country. but then, bush is the only one out of the three who has actually invaded another country.

and isn't the choice to buy citgo part of being free? free trade, especially. we buy things from china because they're cheaper, and they have a terrible record of human rights. we buy things from walmart because they're cheaper, who don't pay their workers well, or give them the freedom to unionize. we won't allow our citizens to buy from cuba, which in fact impinges on our freedom. we appear happy to buy oil from the middle east, as we're certainly not getting very far in alternative fuels, or even improving gas mileage (the average has been the same for the last 20 years). things like the patriot act and wiretapping are seen by many as reducing our freedoms. so buying gas from citgo doesn't seem like the most problematic choice americans make for convenience. and it doesn't seem like a very potent threat to our freedom.

I agree George Bush is not the Devil. But Chavez is not the big picture. President Ahmadinejad of Iran is one who people should be keeping an eye on. Yes, he spoke of world peace at the United Nations which contradicted EVERYTHING he has said prior to that.

As to all that will continue to buy Citgo Gas (owned by Chavez) and support terrorism. It is a sad day when saving less than a $1.00 per tank of gas (if that much) is more important than freedom.

You are right. George W. Bush is not the Devil. However, Hugo Chavez is certainly one of his (the Devil) henchmen.

i'm going to continue buying citgo gas. it's mainly because i don't care anymore and am quite apathetic about the whole thing anyway. citgo gas is ALWAYS the cheapest and the easiest to get to...and i'm an american...so i'm obviously going with the easiest.

i'm really happy that you posted this...i have a new tshirt idea for you...peace

paige, I dunno. what prophecy are you talking about? maybe hugo chavez is helping, too.

if i remember correctly from my high school freshman sunday school class section on revelations, america doesn't figure real big as a world player during the end times. maybe if hugo chavez successfully overthrows our government, that will help bring about the end times?

perhaps we should buy that citgo gas, after all.

>has anyone ever thought…that maybe just maybe >he’s helping God fulfill prophecy?

I, personally, have NEVER thought that. And I don't know anyone who has. Just my two cents.

I know most people hate Bush, and I'm not really too fond of him myself, but has anyone ever thought...that maybe just maybe he's helping God fulfill prophecy?

a) that is SO san francisco

b) "excellent badass cowboy boots made of forgotten dreams and kinky sex and extinct pterodactyl". that's amazing.

c) what's also funny is that hugo chavez, god love him, said that he wished he got to meet noam chomsky before he died. when they reached noam for comment, he said he'd love to meet hugo, and that he's pretty much alive, though gettting up there. noam also said that hugo was voicing what many around the world feel, and that really, our government did try to overthrow his democratically elected one quite vigorously, and was hugo just supposed to laugh that off?

d) i love you for posting this
