Independence Day

Had a good Fourth of July yesterday with friends. I think the Fourth is on of my favorite holidays. You get to hang out with people you like - be it friends or family - and there’s none of the pressure on who made the best food, or who didn’t show up this year or who got who what gift or whatever. Everyone can just kick back and enjoy themselves and each other and eat cookout food and go swimming and watch fireworks and have fun and yeah. All that stuff.

Ahhh, the swimming. I got in the water and immediately lost all the extra gravity I’ve been hauling around. That felt GOOD. My pubic bone hurt too much to let me use my legs and swim, but I got to float around in the water and hold my munchkin without worrying about what effect carrying her was going to have on my body. Judah loves to go swimming. The water felt great, even though I don’t think the outside temp broke 70 yesterday. Hooray for heated pools.

And it’s hard to have anything to complain about when the place you’re hanging out at has a view like this, know what I’m saying?

I had a great, relaxing holiday with people whose company I enjoy. We had to go home earlier than we wanted to, because we had a tired munchkin and because I was starting to hurt. But when we got home, we went up to the roof of our building to watch the last part of the fireworks show. I’m guessing it was probably in the 40’s or so. I wish I had more fireworks pics, but I had some trouble getting them to come out as sharp as I wanted. Not really sure what that was about, but now I want to practice more nighttime photography. I’m taking tips if you have any good suggestions - you know who you are.

At least we have a good view from the rooftop.

Hope you had fun.
