Free public transportation, again

Two days in a row. Double cool.

Yesterday was HOT. I was already sweating by 9 a.m. It didn’t get much better. But thanks to Amy, Judah and I were able to escape the apartment for the afternoon. One chiropracter visit and Thumbelina at Amy’s house filled the afternoon. Then she dropped us off at Ali Baba’s to meet Joshua for dinner. It’s been too hot to cook in the house, so we’ve not eaten dinner at home for a couple of days. One falafel platter and a lemonade fed all three of us for $8.40. Hard to beat that price, I’ve gotta say.

Judah and I started eating while we were waiting for Joshua to get there. They have this one area that’s closed in on three sides with a low table and cushions on short platform, so you eat just elevated off the floor. Shortly after the munchkin and I sat down, I heard this strange sound from the other side of the little eating area, and I looked over just in time to see a mouse run along the wall and under the other side of the low seats.

i guess if they like the food, it can’t be that bad. It reminded me of the time Joshua and I were in New Orleans and were eating at this bar in the French Quarter called The Alibi. We were at a barstool-height table against the back wall, when a mouse ran out of the corner of the wall, along the brick rail that jutted out from the wall, up to our table, and then turned around and ran back into the wall.

Not exactly the ideal sight you want to see in an eating establishment, but kind of hard to avoid in cities where all the buildings bump up against each other. Just so long as they’re not in my house.

I hate hot weather. My five day forecast displays highs in the mid-90s. The only 9 I see on your forecast is on the end of your 79 degree high for Sunday ;)

As for mice, we had our first mouse in the house, which was quite a surprise. There are no holes in the house, though…I think he snuck in when somebody here so cunningly left the door open too long.

Go go gadget sticky traps. Fin.

well, it might depend on what five day forecast you’re looking at. there is about a ten-degree discrepancy between weather.com and sfgate.com half the time. I tend to believe sfgate myself. they’re locals and understand the dysfunction.

if you recall, from an earlier post only a few days ago, that temps can vary in the city by twenty degrees, depending on where you live. we live in one of the warmer spots.

so even if it says its 75 in San Francisco, it might be 65 or 85 across town, depending on where the reading is coming from.

and we DON’T HAVE AIR CONDITIONING. Remember that.

And Joshua and I found that the traditional mousetrap, with a little peanut butter on the weight sensor, does the trick. Kills ‘em quick (sorry, shan).

    I do stand corrected.
