what is it with me and writing to companies?
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing regarding my recent dissatisfaction with a high chair we received as a gift when our daughter was born last year. The model, manufacture date, lot and quantity number are listed above.
We have not had any problems with this high chair until a couple of weeks ago. Please keep in mind that we always use the five-point harness and secure the tray, and we never leave our child unattended when using this product.
Due to what I consider a poor design, our daughter, petite for her age of 16 months and weighing only 20 pounds, is able to remove the tray with her feet. While the one-handed tray release is, IÂ’m sure, a coveted feature, it is in a position where a toddler can easily hook and kick the release, thus removing the tray using only his or her feet, in an attempt to climb out of the high chair. Our daughter has managed to do this several times recently, and I am bringing this to your attention as a safety issue.
While I would wholeheartedly agree with you that there is no replacement for parental supervision when using any type of product for a small child, companies who create those products have an obligation to make them as safe as possible. It is my position that your company has not done enough to ensure childrenÂ’s safety with this type of feature. In the future, please consider the abilities of those for whom your products are designed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I would very much appreciate some form of response.
Sincerely,
Kristen Rudd
