*sigh* this is all we have left:
Joshua went out at 7 this morning to run to the store for some milk. He came back into the bedroom where Judah and I were lazily lolling about and said, “we parked the car out front, right?” “Yeah, why?” “Cause it’s not there.” “What?” I thought he was messing with me, pulling my leg, yanking my chain, in an attempt to fully wake me up. “It’s gone.” “Our car is gone? Someone stole it?” I scrambled out of bed, looking for my pajama pants while trying to remember exactly where we parked it. we went downstairs and stood in the front doorway, trying not to get wet from the morning’s rain. Sure enough, it was gone, just like that. “Well, let’s call the police,” I said. We called 911, and told them our car had been stolen. the auto theft division called us back within an hour. We gave them the VIN number and all we can do now is hope it shows up somewhere.
In the meantime, this really sucks. I mean, we have a good perspective — it’s just a car, it’s just stuff, nothing is irreplaceable. Sure there’s a few trinkets we can’t replace because they have sentimental value, but it’s not like we left our wedding album in the trunk or anything. And despite DART’s faults, a main bus line runs down our cross street, and can get me to work easily and, hopefully, quickly. I’m just glad we moved back to Lower Greenville, where everything we might actually need is within walking distance.
Okay, so the good points - the silver lining:
1. it makes a great story.
2. we’ll save money by not having to buy gas.
3. we didn’t owe any more money on the car.
4. okay, so that’s all I can think of so far.
Damn. (As in a really awful “that sucks” damn.)
I’m sure you’ve checked to make sure it wasn’t just towed? I only ask because that happened to me once. I’m SO sorry this has happened to you guys. You seem to be handling it pretty well considering…theft and violation are never easy to get your head around. Keep us posted
wow. yuck. i’ll be praying for you and for the car.
That sucks. I hope it was insured. Either way you got some prayers comin atcha. Let us know if you need any kind of help.
I can’t believe that happened! Like Jessica said, perhaps it was towed. Keep us posted, okay? We’ll be praying, too. Love ya’ll!
oh you guys! that sucks so much! how AWFUL. the one time weve had stuff stolen we sat around cussing and bawling in the crackhead part of la, and im still sad for some of the stuff (mostly journal).
especially on top of the previous poo-garage fiasco! ack!
sorry that probably doesnt help the getting a good perspective (which you seem to be working on quite admirably). definitely keep the posts coming on if theres any news or anything we can do. and in the mean time, watch the big lebowski.
