it came to my attention that the dallas Race for the Cure is scheduled for Saturday, October 18. i’ve decided to run in it. i have no idea if i’ll be ready in time, but i’ve been wanting to start running again and now i have something to motivate me (besides the leftover pregnancy flab hanging around). the sad part is that i can’t remember the last time i went running. it was at least 3 years ago, if not longer.
so yesterday i went for my first run. well, my first wheeze around the block. i started getting tired and out of breath and i looked at my watch to see how far i’d gone — i’d been gone THREE minutes! i’m such a pansy. i used to be able to knock off a couple of miles, and that was an easy jog day, now I’m lucky if i can run for 10 consecutive minutes. i woke up sore today and will recoup and go again tomorrow. today i will stretch and do yoga. i have five weeks to got ready. can i do it? i sure hope so.
my second race for the cure i ran was in houston, and i placed third in my age group. i have no such fantasies for this year, i just want to finish without having to walk. anyone who wants to run with me is welcome, and as soon as i get signed up, i’d love for anyone who wants to sponsor me and make a donation. this is a very important event for me. i’ve done race for the cure four times before. this weill be number five.
