(this blog is a rant. if you can’t figure that out, don’t bother reading it. go back to your life. you know who you are.)
things that piss me off to no end: people who comment negatively on our blog; people who comment for political gain; people who post bunches of shit as comments; people who don’t understand satire; and people who refuse to learn how to spell correctly, use proper grammar, and properly use words that sound the same, all while vainly attempting to sound intelligent (for example, a web site titled “yourgoingtohell” dot whatever. “your?” you’re kidding, right? if you’re going to have a site so offensive, at least get a copy of strunk and whiteÂ’s “elements of style.” i was as offended by the misuse of “you’re” as i was by the content). if you decide to post negative comments and/or comments attempting to take down our rearviews as a political platform, we hereby reserve the right to make fun of you and make you look stupid.
a recent comment to my “quote of the week” blog a couple of days ago regarding inspectors searching the u.s. for wmdÂ’s: “um. ok. we also do not torture our own people. we follow some sort of morals, and are not out to mass kill everyone. we are not out to take over the world, because who would want the rest of the world? our problems are enough to deal with.”
first of all, who are “we?” i mean, i don’t know about you, but i’m all for torturing our own people, am currently lobbying for more lapses of morality and mass killings, and am still taking over the world, one step at a time (the same thing i do every night, pinky). give me a freakin’ break.
bush declared war on iraq because saddam wouldn’t destroy his wmd’s. now that the war is over, americans are continuing to be killed (one while buying dvd’s in a now-free baghdad) and we still haven’t found any of those aforementioned weapons. i’m supposed to be happy about that? i’m supposed to support that? hello ignorance and deceit, let me introduce my fellow americans to you, also known as “cattle.” i find it entirely amusing that an organization feels this country is worthy of the same scrutiny we imposed on another. any flag-waving, apple pie-eating american should be asking, “where are those weapons,” not to mention questioning the christian-based moral pedestal upon which so many have lovingly placed bush. he may be a christian, but he’s still a politician, and we all know what level of the american caste system THOSE people go in, don’t we?
ah yes, dubya. i’m so thrilled with the guy’s so-called war on terrorism that’s sending one of my closest friends to afghanistan next month, i could just hug him. i suppose this war will finally end when we eradicate everyone he disagrees with. he’s like the bully on the playground – a classic case of little man syndrome. and to think i voted for him (not that it really mattered, this IS texas, and we all know our 32 electoral college votes had a snowball’s chance in hell of helping gore).
okay, enough of that. now to the matter at hand – that comment. “we also do not torture our own people. . .” no, we don’t torture them, we just deny then access to affordable health care; fund research for medications for perfectly healthy people rather than research on meds for those who actually need new drugs; we stimulate an economy that encourages people to spend beyond their means, leaving them in an eternal state of debt; we subject our children to standardized testing curriculum rather than actually teaching them; we nitpick, fight, and toe party lines during legislative sessions rather than actually doing anything to benefit our constituents; we penalize the married; belittle the single parent; criminalize the homeless; and hate the homosexual.. no we don’t torture our own people.
“…we follow some sort of morals…” right. our “heroes,” those to whom we look to as models, are all rich, athletic, and airbrushed; we enjoy stereotyping men and degrading women; we sue the pants off others for our own lack of self-control; we think guns are cool; we perpetuate false senses of self and of God; we’re more concerned with looks and societal level rather than the heart and soul, and we fail to see the sacred in anything non-cosmetic.
“…and are not out to mass kill everyone…” no, we just abort our “unwanted” and “unplanned” children and we lethally inject our potentially innocent (most of whom, by the way, are minorities). when we’re taking a cigarette break from our mass killing, we’re averting our eyes from those who are still on the clock, and only doing something about it when our political interests are at stake (can you say world war two? can you say korea? vietnam? afghanistan? iraq? syria? oops, I foreshadowed. this is REARviewwindow…). we’d rather bomb the hell out of their governments than do anything peaceful, beneficial, proactive or humanitarian.
“we are not out to take over the world, because who would want the rest of the world?”
what an ethnocentric, geocentric, bigoted thing to say. apparently weÂ’re only out to make the world just like us, because we all know weÂ’re better than they are. we force hellenic, western ideals on those whose worldviews were never so tainted; we big brother every country we can arm wrestle; we ignore and disobey our authorities to do what we want anyway; we alienate our allies; and boycott a stellar source of half our liquor and expensive make-up. itÂ’s not take over, itÂ’s just control. who would want them anyway, after we hold our companies to national health standards but allow them to ship substandard products to third world countries overseas, destroying quality of life and health for millions? oh, and not to mention drive-thru, impulse-buying imported goods manufactured in sweatshops by eight-year-olds, all the while driving our road-hogging, fossil fuel-guzzling, atmosphere-polluting suvÂ’s, then throwing our three-quarters-of-the-worldÂ’s worth of trash out the back window. and we donÂ’t even bat an eye, because weÂ’re too busy yapping on a cell phone.
“our problems are enough to deal with.” yourÂ’e damn right they are. iÂ’m sure Jesus is thrilled with how we are treating his creation. whoever you are, Jesus may love you, but that still doesnÂ’t mean youÂ’re not a moron.
well iÂ’ve enjoyed my constitutionally-protected freedom of speech and expression here. and remember, itÂ’s a rant. please treat it as such.
