So the ice storm was

Thursday, February 27th, 2003

So the ice storm was lots of fun the first day — we ran our Lower Greenville community errands, and made pit stops at Starbucks AND Krispy Kreme. Did you know they’ll give you a donut right off the line while you wait? How cool is that? We shared the joy with Mark and the kids (Dawn was sleeping, but I’m sure she felt the joy anyway).

The second day of the ice storm was not quite so friendly as the first. I had a really bad morning at work, and then, while swinging through a drive through for some lunch, my car hit a patch of ice wrong and slid 15 feet, right into another car. The problem with ice is that once you’re sliding, you have to wait til you stop, there’s nary a thing you can do. It just so happened that a Buick helped with that stopping point. I moved that car over four feet. And the owner was nowhere to be found. So I waited over an hour and a half for the policeman to arrive. I didn’t think I’d be able to move my car away without further scraping both of our cars. By the time he got there, all the ice in the parking lot had melted and I had no problem getting traction.

Not every bad day had to end that way. After melting away the stress with a hot bath and ice cream, Joshua and I walked to Blockbuster to get a movie. On the way home, Twinkletoes over there slipped and fell flat on his ASS going off a curb. I was laughing too hard to help him, I’m just glad he didn’t take me with him (or get hurt). He was supposed to help keep unbalanced pregnant girl from falling. While he was dusting off his pride I started pelting him with snowballs. And so ensued the classic snowball fight. Of course, when we got home, two of our neighbors were out on the porch and we had to attack. Nothing like getting to know your new neighbor than pelting the crap out of her with snow.
