Joshua and I braved Stonebriar

Joshua and I braved Stonebriar Mall on New Year’s Eve. Armed with a Motherhood Maternity gift certificate, we walked out of the mal in 30 minutes armed with two free lattes (one decaf), free for us lotion, free for me new maternity pants, and a free for all of us Mom and Baby Yoga video. Showing my dad all our non-purchased purchases, he looked incredulously at the video and said, “what, are you joining a cult now?”

After all the “crazy” things I’ve done over the past years, the one thing that concerns him is that I non-bought a prenatal yoga video. Andrew has a link on his blog to a report about how yoga centers are replacing bingo as places our societal elders hang out. An article in this week’s Dallas Morning News Fashion! section uncovered just how “fashionable” yoga is these days. Christy Turlington even has her own nike line. Only in America would we take an ancient meditative practice and turn it into a fashion trend.

A quote from the article said that the purpose of yoga is to unite body, mind, and soul. Hmm. Sounds like something practised Christianity could use a bit more of, don’t you think?
